CHAI with the support of Misereor implementing CABA project to contributes to sustainably enhancing the quality of life and future prospects of children and adolescent living with HIV or affected by HIV/AIDS.
As part of the regular monitoring visit, on 12th May 2026, the new Director General of (CHAI), along with the Program Manager, visited one of the CABA project member institutions, , located in Bettiah, West Champaran district of Bihar State. The area is one of the remotest regions where resources and opportunities are limited.
During the field visit, the team first visited the ART Centre at and interacted with Medical Officer Dr. Zahid. The Director General expressed gratitude for his continued cooperation and support towards the CABA project staff and beneficiaries of the member institution.
Following this, the team proceeded to Nautan Block, where a meeting was held with the caregivers of CABA children. Around 40–50 participants attended the meeting, the majority of whom were women. During the interaction, one participant shared that she is a single parent raising three children. With the support provided through the CABA vocational training programme, she was able to enroll her child in a computer course. Many caregivers expressed that the project had enabled their children to pursue vocational courses, improve their skills, and access better income-generating opportunities.
The Director General also attended a peer group meeting organized at Beheria village, where nearly 25 adolescents participated. She interacted warmly with the CABA children and encouraged them to continue their education and pursue higher studies so that they could achieve good positions in life. She further motivated them to strengthen their skills through the vocational and digital training provided under the project, emphasizing that such training would expand their future employment opportunities.
During the interaction, the Director General also informed the adolescents that those interested in pursuing careers as caregivers in palliative care centres at Hyderabad or Bangalore would be recommended and supported for placement opportunities in such centres.
