Dear Friends,
We are delighted to share the 2023 Annual Report of The Catholic Health Association of India, which is a momentous occasion as we celebrate 80 years of CHAI.
The report comprises the activities of the CHAI Directorate and its Regional Units. In the year 2023, the CHAI Directorate implemented 12 major projects in the focus areas of Community Health, Disability, Children affected by HIV/AIDS and Palliative care. In addition to the 12 ongoing projects, 5 COVID-19 projects were implemented in the previous financial year, cumulatively supporting 320 CHAI Member institutions and reaching over 1.2 million beneficiaries.
CHAI has recently been focusing on technology, managerial and leadership skills with appropriate use of data, both for the projects implemented by the Directorate as well as the member institutions of the CHAI network. This includes Tele-health services and an initiative to streamline data collection from the projects and the Member Institutions with the support of Catholic Relief Services.
Another focus area has been capacity building. Since Women leaders in healthcare are significant change makers, CHAI is focused on enhancing the capacities of women leaders for long-term sustainability through several management and leadership initiatives.
I am grateful to the CHAI team at the directorate, the member institutions, the funding partners, technical partners, the Regional Units, the Executive Board and all those who contributed and gave inspiring leadership during this year.
Happy Reading!
*This report captures primarily the donor supported projects of CHAI. It does not capture all the various healthcare interventions by the 3582 Member Institutions of CHAI, which ranges from Primary care to Tertiary care to Medical Education.
Warm Regards,
Rev. Dr. Mathew Abraham C.Ss.R, MD | Director General
