Sr Dr Mary Glowrey’s arrival in India on 11th February 1920 marked the beginning of a new chapter in the healthcare of the country. A visionary and a saint, Mary Glowrey developed processes and structures to promote efficient and sustainable healthcare delivery to the poor. In 1942 she established the Catholic Hospital Association of India (CHAI) along with a team of 15 sisters and laid the foundation of the world’s largest health network. CHAI wishes to commemorate this momentous occasion along with our member institutions.
CHAI, along with the Society of Jesus Mary Joseph (JMJ) has prepared a poster and Novena Prayer for this occasion. Coincidentally, February 11th is also the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes and the World Day of the Sick. We encourage you to combine both these celebrations. Kindly conduct a prayer service in all our healthcare institutions and parishes along with the World Day of the Sick Celebration.
