Talk on Sr Dr Mary Glowrey, Servant of God, at JMJ Provincial Day
The Provincial Day of Jesus Mary Joseph (JMJ) was celebrated on 28 June 2014 at JMJ Provincilate, Somajiguda, Hyderabad, Telangana, with a one-day programme. Seventy sisters from various communities of Hyderabad Province came together to celebrate the occasion on the theme “Life and Mission of Sr Dr Mary Glowrey, Servant of God”. Rev Dr Tomi Thomas, IMS, Director-General, the Catholic Health Association of India was supposed to address the gathering and speak on the theme. Since he had to go on an official overseas trip, he deputed Mr N Vasudevan Nair, Editor, Health Action (a magazine published by CHAI) to speak on the occasion.
The day began with Eucharistic Adoration praising and thanking God for the heroic, saintly, intellectual and visionary personality of Sr Dr Mary Glowrey as a gift to the Society of JMJ and to the Church in India at large.
Mr Vasudevan Nair spoke about the exemplary life of Sr Dr Mary Glowrey and her purity of mission in saving lives. She will continue to be a model to all those who wish to serve the sick and the poor. Those who take up Nursing Profession will feel inspired reading the life and mission of Sr Dr Mary Glowrey. Concluding the talk he exhorted the Sisters to follow in the footsteps of Sr Dr Mary Glowrey who was a special creation of the Great Healer and Master Jesus Christ. The session ended at 11.30 breaking for Holy Eucharist celebrated by Rev Swarna Bernard, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Hyderabad.
The afternoon saw a joyful sharing of a fellowship meal by the sisters followed by cultural programme.
