Pilot Study on “CBR in Developing Countries, Skills and Staff Requirements”
One pilot research study was conducted in Mahbubnagar District, Telangana on “CBR in Developing Countries, Skills and Staff Requirements”. The research was conducted by the University of Melbourne, Australia, in collaboration with the Catholic Health Association of India (CHAI). The research involved interviewing Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) workers in India about the current activities they undertake in CBR programmes and the skills they posses in carrying out these activities.
COMMITMENTS is one of the partner-organisations of CHAI which conducted the CBR programme. The objective of the study was to analyze the quality of data generated from the interviews. Altogether 18 interviews were conducted with a mixed groups comprising grassroots workers, government officials, social workers, line managers and those in-charge of projects. The study will help in formulating training curriculum identifying personnel required for providing effective Community-Based Rehabilitation.
