CHAI Seeks Support for Relief Work in Nepal
The 7.9 magnitude earthquake that struck Nepal on 25 April, 2015, killing around 10,000 people and reducing to rubble hundreds of buildings and human habitations is the worst ever that hit the country in the last 81 years.
Responding to the urgency of the situation, a CHAI team rushed to the quake-hit areas to undertake a on-the-spot assessment of the situation and render medical relief accordingly. But medical assistance is a very urgent need which is lacking in most of the areas. Most of the agencies provide relief with food, clothes etc.
Therefore, CHAI is mobilizing support to carry out medical relief activities in the affected areas by conducting emergency health camps in collaboration with Jesuits, Caritas and Nepal team. CHAI is also looking for Doctors, Nurses and Social Workers for relief work.
Any of the member institutions, especially those from the North, who are willing to join hands with CHAI, may come forward to offer your support.
