CHAI Observes World Hypertension Day in Udaipur
The Catholic Health Association of India (CHAI) implements the Medtronic-funded Project HealthRise in co-ordination with Abt Associates in Udaipur. To commemorate World Hypertension Day, CHAI in collaboration with Rabindranath Tagore Medical College and the Chief Medical & Health Office, Udaipur, organized an awareness rally on 17th May 2016 at 9:00 AM at Udaipur to raise awareness about Hypertension among the community. The theme of World Hypertension Day was ‘Know Your Numbers’.
Flagging off the rally, Dr. D.P. Singh, Principal, RNT Medical College, said that as hypertension is an emerging global health issue, it is important for each and every individual to understand the disease, its risk factors, complications and preventive strategies.
The participants comprised students of Rabindranath Tagore Medical College and Govt. Nursing College, Representatives from District Non-Communicable Diseases Cell, Chief Medical & Health Office, Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme Cell, National Health Mission Cell, District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit, other non-governmental organisations, ASHA Workers, key opinion leaders and community members of various slums. The participants sported placards with messages on preventive health care, symptoms, cure and other epidemic diseases.
The rally which commenced at the MB Hospital passed through the Chetak Circle, Hathipole, Ashwani Bazar, Delhi Gate, Collectorate, and Court Circle before concluding at the RNT Medical College.
