Community Health Enablers Training Inaugurated
CHAI is moving a step forward to strengthen the health ministry of Member Institutions by organizing 4th batch of “Three-month Community Health Enablers” training for 50 sister-nurses, belonging to 28 religious congregations, from all over the country. In his welcome address, Rev. Dr. Joby Kavungal, Associate Director – CHAI, exhorted the trainees to energize, equip and empower themselves to effectively facilitate promotive, preventive and holistic primary health care in their local communities. Delivering the key note address, the course was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Mrs. B. Vidyavathi, Registrar, Telangana State Nursing Council. Rev. Fr. Siby Kaitharam MI, National Coordinator of Camillian Task Force & Director of CHAI Snehakiran was also present. The 3-month training envisages to equip sister-nurses working in remote villages to practice alternative therapies like Herbal Medicine, Naturopathy, Acupuncture, Acupressure, Colour therapy, Sujok, Seed therapy, Magnet therapy, Reflexology and Massage therapy, etc. The course also enables them to provide de-addiction – family – trauma counselling, render holistic palliative and geriatric care, and undertake health advocacy.
