CHAI Presents Research Papers at 16th World Conference On Tobacco or Health, at Abu Dhabi
The World Conference for Tobacco or Health (WCTOH) occurs every three years and attracts around 3,000 delegates from around the world. The 16th WCTOH was held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, from 17-21 March 2015.
In attendance were H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al-Nahayan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development and Patron of the conference; HRH Princess Dina Mired of Jordan; Ministers of Health representing seven countries; and 2,184 registered delegates from over 100 countries.
On behalf of the Catholic Health Association of India (CHAI), Dr. Sameer Valsangkar presented two papers ¬ “An exploratory analysis of the role of Civil Society Organizations on joint tuberculosis and tobacco control programmes” and “Attitudes of key RNTCP staff on a joint, collaborative programme to combat the global epidemics of tuberculosis and tobacco.”
Professor Harry Lando, Chair of the Scientific Programme Committee, presented the resolutions of the Conference at the closing ceremony with a call to achieve the goal of “No More Tobacco in the 21st century (NMT 21C).”
